Save up to $798 on property taxes EVERY YEAR!
The Homestead Exemption is a provision which allows Florida property owners to save money on their property taxes every year. This exemption reduces the taxable value of a home by $50,000 each year. This exemption is available only for primary residences.
If you purchased your primary residence in the last year make sure you have filed for your homestead exemption with the Leon County Property Appraiser’s office. You will need the following:
- Your Florida Driver’s License
- Your Social Security number
- Your Voter’s Registration card or Florida vehicle tag number
- A copy of the recorded deed
If you sold your primary residence in Florida and purchased another primary residence, check to make sure that the Save our Homes Tax Portability tax difference from your old residence was transferred to your new residence.
Georgia Turner (850) 510-4286 and Cindy Cooper (850) 545-8076 will be happy to answer any questions you may have.
